Description

This salted caramel sauce is sweet, sticky, buttery, and tastes phenomenal on top of anything. One taste and you’ll be hooked! A candy thermometer is not required for this recipe.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup of organic cane sugar
  • 6 tablespoons of vegan butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup of vegan heavy cream (or coconut cream)
  • 1 teaspoon of flaky salt (optional for salted caramel)

Utensils You’ll Need:

  • Saucepan
  • Silicone spatula
  • Jar with a lid

Instructions

  1. Set a saucepan to medium heat.
  2. Add 1 cup of sugar and stir it around constantly with a spatula until all the sugar melts and there are no clumps. It can burn very quickly, so keep your eyes on it and make sure to stir it non-stop.
  3. Turn off the heat and add in 6 tablespoons of softened vegan butter, 1/2 cup of vegan heavy cream (or coconut cream), and 1 tsp flaky salt. Combine and remove the pan from the heat.
  4. Let it cool for 10 minutes, then carefully pour the sauce into a jar with a lid. Transfer it to the fridge after it fully cools down on the counter.
  5. The sauce will thicken up and change color once it’s been refrigerated for a few hours. Pour it over anything your heart desires!
