Description

Put your ripe bananas to use with this vegan chocolate chip banana bread recipe! This classic treat is easy to make and has a deliciously sweet aroma that makes your home smell amazing. It’s perfectly fluffy, moist, and pairs wonderfully with a glass of milk or coffee.


Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas*
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil, melted (or vegetable oil)
  • 1/2 cup organic cane sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup of vegan semisweet chocolate chips (plus more for on top)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350˚F (180˚C).
  2. In a large bowl, add the ripe bananas and mash with the back of a fork until smooth. Add in the oil and stir until well combined.
  3. Add the sugar, apple sauce, vanilla, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until the batter is evenly combined.
  4. Add in 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and mix. Pour the batter into a greased 9×5 loaf pan, then sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  5. Bake for 55 minutes to an hour. Until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let it cool completely before slicing and serving.
